Band

Jackson Bounds (Drew) has lived in Hattiesburg his entire life. He graduated from Oak Grove High School, where he was a member of their show choir, Centerstage. During his time in show choir, he was awarded “Most Outstanding Male Performer” at Show Choir Nationals 2014, and “Best Male Soloist” at Fame Orlando 2015. Jackson’s stage credits include Hattiesburg Civic Light Opera’s Les Miserables (Lesgles), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Gad) and most recently Jesus Christ Superstar (Peter). His passion is writing and performing his original music all across the south. Jackson’s debut album, “Mississippi Tea” is set to release in early 2016. 

 

Michaela Moore (Sherrie) has performed on both the college and professional level across the region.  She is a vocal performance and Public Relations major at the University of Southern Mississippi and is originally from Biloxi, Mississippi.  Accolades include performing at the International Performing Arts Institute in Kiefersfelden, Germany, and singing the National Anthem for state football and basketball games.  She has starred in lead and supporting roles in both musical theatre and opera.  She has been seen as Anita in the University of Southern Mississippi production of “West Side Story.”  Other college credits include Percy Talbott in “The Spitfire Grill” with Carey Dinner Theatre (an equity role), Amber Von Tussle in “Hairspray” with Command Performance Broadway Intensive, Winifred Banks in “Mary Poppins” with the University of Southern Mississippi, Natalie/Ed in “All Shook Up”, Amahl in “Amahl and the Night Visitors”, and Cinderella in “Into the Woods” with Mississippi State University.  She has trained under the direction of Dr. Maryann Kyle, Dr. Tara Warfield, and Dr. Jeanette Fontaine.  She has placed 4th in the Southern region of NATS in the musical theatre category and 1st in the upper level musical theatre category of the Mississippi chapter of NATS. She was in the Top 10 as well as a preliminary talent winner in the 2015 Miss Mississippi pageant as Miss Leaf River Valley.  In the past, she has also placed first in the state for Female Solo Singing, Female Monologue, and Duet Singing through the Mississippi Theatre Association competition.

 

Joseph Van Zandt (Lonny) is a math teacher at Purvis High School. He has performed for HCLO as P.T. Barnum (Barnum), Willard (Footloose), Joseph (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), Harold Hill (The Music Man), Leo Bloom (The Producers), Huckleberry Finn (Big River), Jesus (Godspell), Marius (Les Miserables), and Jesus/Judas (Jesus Christ Superstar). He was also Reverend Oglethorpe (Smoke on the Mountain) for Jones County Junior College, Cookie (Return to the Forbidden Planet) for JPAS in New Orleans, Corny Collins (Hairspray) for Command Performance Broadway Intensive, a member of the ensemble of Showbiz Showstoppers for the USM School of Music, and won the All-Star Cast award at MTA for his performance as Mark (Altar Boyz) for JORT. Joseph would like to thank his friends and family for their endless support.

 

Daniel Lewis (Dennis Dupree), a founding member of Hub City Players, works in the financial industry, and he spends most of his free time near the theater.  Lewis’ on-stage credits include West Side Story (Baby John/Tony cover), Guys and Dolls (Nicely Nicely Johnson), and Holidays on Broadway with Southern Opera and Musical Theater Program, and Cats (Quaxo), 100 Years of Broadway, and The Drowsy Chaperone (Gangster 2), and A Catered Affair (Sam) with the Hattiesburg Civic Light Opera.  A few years back, Lewis began working the technical side of shows.  His tech credits include Cue Caller for The Magic Flute (FestivalSouth) and Deck Crew Captain for The Producers and Les Miserables (HCLO).  His Stage Manager credits include Winter Wonderland, Sondheim in the City, Showbiz Showstoppers and Mary Poppins (USM School of Music), The Music of Andrew Lloyd Weber (FestivalSouth), artists such as Rhonda Vincent and Sandy Patty (FestivalSouth), as well as a member of the stage management team for the Coronation of the King of The Mystic Krewe of Zeus. Lewis currently resides in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

 

A native of Hattiesburg, Derrek Howell (Stacee Jaxx) is a Southern Miss College of Business graduate and currently serves as fitness instructor at the Hattiesburg Family YMCA. Often known around the Hub City as “D-Rock,” he has been the lead vocalist for C4 and The Glitter Boys. He is currently a member of the Lanna Wakeland Band and front man of the band Gypsy Rose.

 

A veteran of the Hattiesburg stage, Paul VanZandt (Hertz Klineman) has appeared in over sixty productions.  Favorite roles include Koko in The Mikado, Cervantes/Quixote in Man of La Mancha, and the King in The King and I.   Most recently he played Max Bialystock in Hattiesburg Civic Light Opera’s The Producers.  In 1995 he was named best actor in the Mississippi Theater Association Festival and took best supporting actor honors in the 2000 festival.  Paul has also directed fifteen productions including the Warren McDaniel Award-winning productions in 2002 and 2003.  He teaches at Sacred Heart Catholic School where he coaches the speech and debate team and the mock trial teams.  Paul is very excited to be making his first appearance with the Hub City Players.  He thanks his beautiful wife Linda for her love and support.

 

Austin Querns (Franz Klineman) is a 19 year old Hattiesburg native.  He attends Belmont University in Nashville, TN where he studies Musical Theatre.  Austin has been see in several productions here in Hattiesburg, including: HCLO’s Big River (Young Fool), Godspell (Disciple), and Les Misérables (Jean Prouvaire); and also has been seen in the University of Southern Mississippi’s Mary Poppins (Valentine).  His film experience include: The Lucky One, Treme, People Like Us, Victorious, and Repentance.  He has done a promotional photo ad for American Horror Story: Freak Show Season 4.  He is so excited to be working with such a great and talented cast.  

 

Coming from a family of singers, New York native Patricia Garner (Justice), was never forced to follow the path of the performing arts of her opera-singing family. A shy child that traveled the world with her parents throughout her youth, she excelled in visual arts. She was given a karaoke machine about 12 years ago and never looked back. She sings because it makes her happy, expresses emotions current and past in the lyrics and builds confidence. An artist at heart, she graduates from USM in interior design in May 2016. A momentary escape from the here and now, singing reminds her of her mother who passed from cancer in 2011. She had her first performance with live music (and no lyrics on a screen) last summer in LOL. Even though it is not an opera, my mom would be excited to see me on stage.

 

Latisha Hamilton (Regina), a native of Raleigh MS, is a student of Dr. Nicholas Ciraldo at the University of Southern Mississippi. Ms. Hamilton is currently pursing a Bachelor's degree in Music Education with an emphasis in guitar. Latisha is passionate about music. She is a member of the top mixed ensemble at USM, Southern Chorale, as well as the women's  acapella group, Southern Belletones. She is also a southern gospel quartet guitarist accompanist for her family group, The B & H Gospel Singers who perform faithfully throughout the southern states. Ms. Hamilton is looking forward to student teaching next spring and receiving her Bachelor's degree which enables her to spread her love for music to others daily. 

 

Lauren Cate Leake (Waitress 1, bar ensemble) was most recently seen on stage in Hattiesburg Civic Light Opera's Into the Woods (Cinderella) Les Miserables (Cosette) and Jesus Christ Superstar (Mary Magdalene.) Other favorite credits include USM's Rent (Alexi Darling, Roger’s Mom), Southern Arena Theatre’s Arcadia (Chloe Coverly), Jefferson Performing Arts Society’s Guys and Dolls (Sarah Brown), HCLO's The Sound of Music (Liesl Von Trapp), High School Musical (Gabriella Montez) and Presbyterian Christian High School’s Beauty and the Beast (Belle), Cinderella (Cinderella), The Taming of the Shrew (Katherine), and The Phantom of the Opera (Christine Daae.) She studies voice under Lori Guy at USM, and loves teaching her own students. She would like to thank her family for unconditional love and support, her teachers and mentors for giving her a foundation to stand on, and her mom for giving her this wonderful and irreplaceable art. She plans to move to New York soon and pursue her long held dream of performing on Broadway in the Big Apple. 

 

Judyth Daley (Waitress 2, bar ensemble) is a theatre major at USM and will graduate in the fall of 2016 with a B.A. In theatre. She recently played "Juliet" in The Gallway Orchestra's production of Prokofiev's composition Romeo and Juliet. She also played "Amienne" in Shakespeare's As You Like It at USM, and "Bella Keating" in The Katrina Project: Hell and High Water. After graduation she plans to move to Atlanta, GA to further her film and theatre career. She also plans to study Shakespeare at Lamda or Rada in London, England in the future. She would like to thank her professors,family, and theatre family for their love and support! 

 

Mia Hall (Waitress 3, bar ensemble) has appeared in numerous productions in university shows such as Mary Poppins and West Side Story. Hall has sung leading roles such as Annie in Annie, Elle in Legally Blonde, and Rusty in Footloose at Meridian Little Theater. Regionally, she played Babbette in Beauty and the Beast and Chava in Fiddler on the Roof at Oklahoma City University summer musical theatre intensives. She has been coached in master classes by Jason Robert Brown, Alice Ripley, Sierra Boggess, Sutton Foster, and Lawrence O’keefe. She is a student of Dr. Jonathan Yarrington at the University of Southern Mississippi where she is pursuing a degree in vocal performance.

 

Jacob Lloyd (Mayor, Ja’Kieth Gill, Stacee Jaxx understudy) is a freshman vocal performance major at The University of Southern Mississippi where he recently played Riff in the Southern Opera and Musical Theater Company’s productions of West Side Story. He is originally from Vicksburg Mississippi. Where he took part in the Vicksburg Theater Guild’s productions of Les Miserables, Cats, Man of Lamancha, and The Ponder Heart as well as various other productions around the community.

 

Dalton Russell (Joey Primo, bar ensemble/wardrobe crew), a Pittsboro, MS native, is currently a senior theatre major at USM. Within the past few years he has been involved with multiple productions on each side of the curtain. Previous stage credits include: USM Theatre Department’s Spring Awakening (Ensemble, Hanschen & Moritz U/S), Rent (Ensemble & Roger U/S), Assassins (Ensemble, Booth & Hinckley U/S), NWCC’s Smoke on the Mountain (Stanley Sanders), and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Schroeder). Film credits include: The Hollow (Tad Dawson). Previous costuming credits include: USM Theatre Department’s Violet (Wardrobe Supervisor & 1st Costume Design Assistant), The Liar (Wardrobe Supervisor), The Tempest (2nd Costume Design Assistant & Wardrobe), Lysistrata (Wardrobe Crew), The School for Scandal (Wardrobe Crew), Southern Opera and Musical Theatre’s West Side Story(Assistant Costume Designer & Wardrobe Supervisor), and HCLO’s A Christmas Carol (Assistant Costume Designer). 

 

Michael Boyte (Father, bar ensemble, Lonny understudy) is a graduate of Sumrall High school and Pearl River Community College, where he studied voice under Dr. Pamela Jones. He has performed with the Hattiesburg Civic Light Opera in The Modern Musical (Joe Gillis); Poplarville Academy of Dramatic Arts in See How They Run (Author Humphrey); Pearl River Community College in The Apple Tree (Adam); Southern Miss Opera and Musical Theater Company in Sweeney Todd, Showbiz Showstoppers,Trial by Jury, Carmen, and Marry Poppins (Robertson Ay); the Command Performance Broadway Intensive’s Hairspray (Sketch), and pre-Broadway performance of Calixte; and Mississippi Opera’s Tosca. He most recently studied under Dr. Taylor Hightower at Southern Miss, and is a vocal music education major.

 

Jennie Bounds (Mother, Candy, bar ensemble, Justice understudy) is proud to call Hattiesburg her home. She grew up performing and singing in local churches and schools. Her stage debut was at the Saenger Theater at the age of 11 in HCLO's The Wizard of Oz. Since then, she has been a part of Oliver Twist, Annie, Always Patsy Cline, Les Mis, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Nunsense, Jesus Christ Superstar, A Catered Affair, and A Christmas Carol. She passed on her love of singing to her sons, Jackson and Pate who also perform locally. She works at Oak Grove High School and is married to Brad Bounds, The Voice of Warrior Football.
